Rubén Gallo is the Walter S. Carpenter Jr. Professor in Latin American Literature at Princeton University. He is the author of books including Mexican Modernity: The Avant-Garde and the Cultural Revolution, winner of the MLA’s Katherine Singer Kovacs Prize; Freud in Mexico: Into the Wilds of Psychoanalysis, winner of the ApsA’s Gradiva Award; and Proust’s Latin Americans. He has edited two volumes on modern architecture in Cuba: Havana Modern: Critical Readings in Cuban Architecture and Roberto Gottardi: The Forgotten Architect of Cuba’s Art Schools. He is a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and chairman of the Sigmund Freud Museum’s Research Board.
